The collection explores the blurred lines between reality and virtuality, likening our modern experience to drinking Alice's magic potion. Backstage, the atmosphere was electric as makeup artist @yinleemakeup crafted one particular look with fabulous chequerboard skin effects that perfectly complemented the whimsical theme. Using Day Cream from @ylwclub, the models radiated a magical glow. Hair was designed by @formmania for @dam_team added an extra layer of fantasy, while nails by @glitterbels complimented the looks with their signature flair. The runway showcased thirty unique looks featuring whimsical totem elements like rabbits, keys, and playing card suits—spades, hearts, diamonds, and clubs—alongside characters like the Mad Hatter and a giant chessman. APUJAN's cat mascot, MOON, made a playful appearance in a wizard hat.
Accessories emphasized the theme of uncertain size, with oversized elements such as a giant yarn ball, an enormous bow tie, and a super mini mannequin held by the models. The collection featured big pockets, playful silhouettes, and a mix of Eastern and Western styles, blending retro and futuristic influences. 'VOGUE: Inventing the Runway' is an immersive showcase that takes you on a journey through the evolution of fashion shows, from intimate salons to today's epic, celebrity-filled spectacles. From the first show at New YorK fashion week in 1943, to the celeb-studded FROW at The Row’s show in Paris this year, where mobile phones were banned, every designer ensures a certain kind of spectacle. However, Vogue has opened up its archives to allow everyone the thrill of watching the runway unfold right in front of them via thematic chapters and original animation that spans decades of archive catwalk material - from Disruptors todesigners breaking boundaries and some of the most iconic catwalk moments of all times. Deep in London’s Coal Drops Yard, is The Lightroom, and the large basement utilises state of the art technology to create a four-storey walls and 360-degree canvas. As you descend to the showspace, you’ll be rewarded by kaleidoscopic images that fill the four walls, and you can take a seat to soak up the buzzy atmosphere. It is not necessary to book a time slot, as the film is on a loop and you can stay as long as you like to enjoy the 50 minute spectacle in all its glory. Using content from Vogue’s archives, global fashion weeks, behind the scenes footage, and designer interviews, the experience is narrated by Cate Blanchett, who bridges the gap of the industry’s leading voices from the past, present, and future as the viewer is immersed into the ultimate statement of a designer’s vision and expression of their identity. Eye-opening, not only for changing fashion trends, but culture at large, the show touches on the iconic shows that shifted the cultural landscape and how arts, entertainment, technology and politics are intertwined. From the intimate couture salons of the early 20th century to the all-singing, all-dancing global productions of the present, the shows are as important as the clothes. It must have been a difficult edit, but you will see well known Houses including Gucci, Balenciaga, Versace, Burberry, Chanel, Christian Dior, Givenchy and Prada. Along with cult British designers Martine Rose, Alexander McQueen, Jonathan Anderson, Victoria Beckham, and Vivienne Westwood. You may be surprised at how engaging and dramatic a 6 and a half minute runway show could be; and beyond the exclusivity, a whole new world of wonder awaits. Book your tickets here Adults from £25 Students & Under 18s from £15 Under 3s go free Dates From 13 November 2024 – 26 April 2025 Duration One complete show lasts approximately 50 mins. You are welcome to stay for longer than one show. |
