Backstage, I witnessed the hardworking makeup and hair teams in action, met the dedicated designers, and experienced the brilliance of the show. The highlight was an exclusive showcase of designs from 128 students in the BA (Hons) Fashion Design Technology: Menswear and Womenswear courses. The collections were presented to a full house of industry insiders, including models and sustainability advocates Dr.Brett Staniland and Scott Staniland, activist Aja Barber, drag performer Black Peppa, DJ trio Hale Zero, and Evening Standard's Maurice Mullen. For this year’s BA (Hons) Fashion Design Technology: Menswear and Womenswear catwalk show, hair was styled by Johanna Cree Brown and team, and makeup and skincare were provided by Jane Richardson and her team. Skin was polished, with eyes lending a grunge Jagger vibe, promoting rawness and '70s sexiness. Hair allowed natural curls on longer hair to feel organic and raw, while in other looks, irridesant blues and grays were daubed and meltedaround the eyes, and hair was slicked as if painted with oil. The soundtrack was composed by Luigino D’Andrea. The show can be viewed on LCF’s website and YouTube, and graduates are featured on the UAL Graduate Showcase platform.
Andrew Teverson, Pro Vice-Chancellor and Head of LCF, remarked, "We are thrilled to present LCF24, showcasing our students' innovative designs that challenge fashion's boundaries. This year's themes of sustainability and inclusivity reflect our commitment to accessible education and a diverse, responsive fashion industry."
