I’ve always had a sweet tooth but even before it was common knowledge I felt that eating highly sugary foods was not good for me. We now know that sugar has no nutritional value, is addictive and it has recently been proven to feed cancerous cells. One could even go so far as to say that it impedes spiritual growth by contributing to the calcification of the pineal gland. I am not going to take the hard stance by saying that I advocate cutting out sugar all together. I am not sure I would even want to aim for something so draconian, because I would be setting myself up for failure and I honestly enjoy moments of indulgence… So, I have a few go to treats that give that dopamine kick without overdoing it. I think the key is to use ingredients that do have nutritional value and are unrefined and as natural as possible. Welcome to the simple joy of Coconut Cream Date Bites… If you enjoy smooth caramelly sweetness, dates are your friends. These oblong, wrinkly and satisfyingly chewy fruits are high in fiber, potassium and folic acid. Simply cut the date in half and remove the stone. Add a dollop of coconut cream Coconut cream has a thick creamy luxurious consistency. It is high in fat so not something you want to eat a lot of, but it is a great dairy free option. Now use your imagination and top with a blueberry, raspberry or my favourite, a little sliver of dark chocolate. Voila…just the right amount of sinful deliciousness… So Indulgent, SoWell SoEdited
