Article: Emma Rice
I am so in love with the ANTIPODES range of cosmetics in particular the lipsticks that I have dedicated my first article to sharing the joys of its lip plumping moisture content and it beautiful bold statement colour pigment so wearable yet so green and hormone friendly. Over the next few articles I will be discussing environmental impact on our bodies in particular our hormone health and offering out hacks to avoid unnecessary toxic load. “Toxic load” is the accumulation of chemicals, toxins and other substances having been ingested in the body or absorbed through the skin. We encounter many of these harmful substances in our daily lives, second-hand cigarette smoke, urban pollution, household products and our cosmetics. While it is difficult to avoid endocrine-disrupting chemicals in our beauty products completely, steering clear of questionable ingredients like Parabens, Phthalates, Plastics, and Pesticides is a big step in limiting our harmful toxin exposure. An endocrine disruptor is any chemical able to interfere with the normal regulation of hormones. While there are naturally occurring, types found in plants i.e. phytoestrogens in soy, most endocrine-disrupting compounds are present in synthetic chemicals we are able to avoid. Steering clear of ingredients such as Parabens, Phthalates, Plastics, and Pesticides plays a major part in limiting our harmful toxin exposure. We are informed enough to make conscious green decisions to ensure the health, wellness and beauty of ourselves and our beloved planet. EMMA RICE www.best-self.co.uk
