Arts Editor: Christopher George New York based artist Claire Fleury celebrates the arts at Brooklyn Fashion Week (FW|BK) by closing the “Slayway Genderless Design” during its fashion event. Fleury’s iconic creations caught the attention of FWB organizers which earned her a place amongst some of the industry’s most exciting independent designers. 6 jumpsuits modelled on some of NYC’s up and coming faces for the designers collection titled Playground. A capsule collection of playful jumpsuits produced in positive colorways of CAMO (clear vinyl with red patching) OREO (black and white) CHEETO (red and lime) AQUA (blue) YELLO (yellow) and CIRCO (pink). Claire Fleury - “All my designs are genderless - I hope to add to the movement by anyone of any gender being encouraged to wear any style of any garment they want Jumpsuits are an easy subject because they tend to be rather genderless on their own.” Settled in the heart of Brooklyn is Claire’s studio where her team effortlessly put together 6 jumpsuits. True to her core belief and brand DNA, materials from last year were repurposed to help reduce waste and to encourage other creatives to follow in her footsteps. Claire’s designs will be worn by some exceptional talent, Ericka Neely, Luis Mercedes, LeAnn Fredericks, Kemo Ward, Sarah Ocul and Andrés LunarKing. Brooklyn Fashion Week BK|SF lends a voice to social issues including human rights, HIV/AIDS awareness, sustainability initiatives, poverty, community development, and leadership training.
